I heard it suggested (on the Ezra Klein podcast) that Trump and the Maga Cult are likely to be defeated, not by a reinvigorated Democratic Party, nor through grass-roots opposition but in a ‘collision with reality’.
I liked that and that’s why I’m sharing it.

I find it hard to accept that Trump is real as well
You are perhaps optimistic in considering ‘defeat’ for this movement. The contempt for rules and traditions is so total that I see little to encourage a hope that they will engage in such a fundamental concept as the peaceful transfer of power, or even for the concept of free and fair election. Trumpism is a mentality of venality unbounded. Only revolution will depose it now.
What sort of revolution, Rod? Civil war, perhaps?
When all those ‘ordinary’ people who voted for T realise he lied to them what will be the focus of their anger?
